Sir Clare appointed as Honorary Consul for Chile to Antigua and Barbuda
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Sandra Joseph on 19th December presented credentials to Sir Clare K. Roberts KCN, QC. Sir Clare was recently appointed as Honorary Consul for Chile to Antigua and Barbuda.
A prominent Antiguan lawyer, Sir Clare was admitted to the Bar in 1975 and mainly practices in the areas of Human Rights, Admiralty/ Maritime Law, Taxation, Labour and Employment Law. He is a former Solicitor General of Antigua and Barbuda and has acted as Attorney General in the British Virgin Islands and Montserrat. Sir Clare served as Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs for Antigua and Barbuda and served as an independent Senator in the Senate of Antigua and Barbuda during 2004. He also served as a member of the Inter American Commission on Human Rights and served as President for the 2004-2005 terms.
During the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of Antigua and Barbuda on 1st November 2006, Sir Clare was appointed as - Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of the Nation (KCN) for his contribution to the legal profession, human rights and the youth.
Sir Clare K. Roberts is the first Antiguan and Barbudan to be appointed as Honorary Consul for Chile in Antigua and Barbuda.
